Why does my lower back seem to start hurting when doing pushups?

i get to about the 15th pushup or somethin and my lower back starts to hurt, is it just the pressure from the pushups or what?
Answer:
Stop with the pushups...this is very old fashioned thinking..Your lower back is supporting far too much weight in pushups, and the pain is telling you that it is not strong enough to do what you are demanding it do. You obviously are developing a sway-back form in doing the push ups.arch your back more and the pain will not happen. But, pushups are a very non-specific form of excercise, hits all the wrong places, and your back is one of them. Good luck
it's probably because your back is curved down... try lifting your hips more
Stop doing them. You may be over exerting yourself. You may not be doing it the right way, either. And, don't do that everyday..alternate body parts.
sounds to me like you are letting your lower back sag when you do push-ups. Try doing you push-ups with your entire back level to the ground. Also try doing some exercises to strengthen your lower back.
~Yeah, especially since that's when it hurts, when you do push ups. We have pain for a reason. When you have pain, it means stop, you may hurt something. Don't do 15 push ups, maybe just do 10.~

**It might be helpful if you do your push ups, but with your knees on the floor. It's better for the back.
it could be or it could be that push ups are being done incorrectly or that they also are strengthenning your back muscles so you feel the burn. in any event pain is the god given body's way of saying"STOP THAT!" and you should.find a different exercise to do .once you mess up your back it will never be the same again.neither will the rest of your life.i know because i messed mine up lifting a patient with another nurse who did it wrong so my back bore all the weight. i am and always will be in pain.if your back dosent like pushups stop doing them.
When you do pushups alot of pressure does focus on your lower back. But you say you have pain in your lower back. Try to streching your back by doing V-Sit and reaches.

Also when you go to sleep lay on flat hard surfaces. For me it seems to make the pain go away.
