A lot of the time the big belly's are from beer. Beer is very fattening, and men tend to carry their weight in the stomach area. At least that is where they usually gain the weight first.
It is a Generalisation but is mostly Correct. A lot of Men get Fat in this way by Guzzeling Beer . On the other Hand I have known People who are Terribly thin from Drinking Beer and Whisky and also Smoking a Terrible Lot. A few of these have Died from Cancer of the Stomach unfortunately. A man I worked with had just Retired at age 65 and got Cancer ,and soon after he was Diagnosed with it Died after two Monthes or so . He was always very Thin and Drank Whisky and Beer and Smoked a Terrible amount it got him in the end before he could enjoy his Retirement.
